What the card shows

A rider crowned with laurel moves to the right on a white horse. The horse is almost hidden under a long green caparison dotted with red and edged with a yellow fringe, and wears a red bridle. The rider has a dark red cloak, a yellow tunic and tall boots. He holds a wand with a second laurel wreath tied to its tip by a red ribbon. At the left edge of the card walk his companions on foot, faces turned up, carrying wands of their own; with the rider’s there are six in all. The sky is a flat, even blue.

Upright

One wreath on his head and another raised high on his wand: this is a win people can see from a distance. The Six of Wands is success that others notice, whether that’s a project approved, work praised in public, a competition won or simply being the one chosen. In the suit of initiative, it’s the moment your boldness gets an answer. Don’t hide the pleasure out of modesty. He carries his wreath high, and he earned it.

Without the walkers he’d just be a man on a horse; they are what make a procession. Every visible victory has invisible participants: colleagues, family, teachers, the people who believed in you before anyone else did. Take recognition calmly, without false modesty or swagger, and share it with whoever helped. A win like this restores balance and gives you the strength to keep going.

Keywords: victory, public recognition, confidence, earned success, good news

Reversed

When the wreath matters more than the road, praise starts to feel like oxygen. Without likes, ratings or a nod from the boss, the work seems worthless, and decisions get made for applause while the task slips into second place. Remember why you got into the saddle in the first place, and check whether you still have a measure of success that doesn’t depend on other people’s opinion.

You walked among the people with wands and the wreath went to someone else; or you won, and nobody came to mark it. That hurts, and there’s no need to pretend otherwise. Name your contribution out loud, calmly, with facts and without grievance; others won’t guess it on their own. Recognition sometimes arrives not because it was earned but because someone spoke up.

Keywords: needing praise, unrecognised effort, approval-seeking, someone else’s wreath, vanity

Six of Wands in relationships

Under the Six of Wands, love is something you’re proud of: going out with friends as a couple, meeting each other’s families, being open about what you feel. Sometimes the Six means someone has finally returned your interest. Reversed, it points to rivalry inside the couple over who’s more successful or more admired, or to a sense that your effort goes unseen. Praise each other out loud, including in front of others.

Six of Wands at work

This card is at its strongest where results have to be seen: a project defence, a talk, a competition, a promotion, a publication. If the reversed Six shows others taking credit for your work, raise it calmly and with facts; it rarely sorts itself out. And when the win is yours, tell people what you’ve done without playing it down, and name the colleagues without whom there’d be none.

Six of Wands as advice for the day

Two things for today. First, say out loud or write down one recent achievement of yours, without shrinking it with “oh, it was nothing”. Second, thank one specific person who helped you get there, and tell them exactly what their help did, in a message, a call or face to face.

The card’s lesson

The Six of Wands is a reminder of victory and of how visible it is to others.
